A DEPLETED Argyle squad suffered defeat at leaders Brighton & Hove Albion in the latest round of Education League fixtures.

The Pilgrims were struggling badly with injury before even setting off across the south coast and that situation got worse when striker Alex Mills was forced out of the game after hurting his back in the warm-up.

Despite the problems with numbers, Argyle started brightly and dominated the opening 20 minutes, but another major setback arrived when wing-back Jake Anderson stayed down after a 50-50 challenge.

Jake’s ankle immediately looked swollen and he was taken to hospital, where further investigation confirmed a chipped bone and he is now in plaster at the beginning of a long road to recovery.

Argyle continued to work hard in difficult circumstances but fair play to the home side, who showed ruthless finishing to run out 4-0 winners.
