Festive delights at Manadon and Central Park Hubs

Argyle Community Trust, with support from Wolferstans Solicitors and Plymouth Community Homes, has been leading the way in providing festive cheer and entertainment for the people of Plymouth this month.

Utilising our state-of-the-art, all-purpose facilities, the team held a magical Santa’s Grotto at the Central Park Hub, and a Christmas Craft Fayre at Manadon Sports and Community Hub for families and young people in our city.

Our grotto saw over 100 joyful children meet the big man himself! Each child received a gift and, in turn, presented Santa with creative and colourful pictures they had drawn. Visitors enjoyed free mince pies and had access to a host of activities at the Hub.

Manadon Sports and Community Hub then hosted its first Christmas Fayre. Local businesses from around the city attended to offer their products and services. There were crafts, activities, refreshments from the Hub café, mince pies and music to entertain the whole family.

Huge thanks go to our amazing friends at Wolferstans Solicitors. A long-term supporter of the Trust, the local firm enabled us to provide the events for free to our communities and ensure the young people visiting the grotto left with a special gift from Santa! Huge thanks also to our amazing friends at Plymouth Community Homes who provided funds to support our grotto.

Wolferstans commented via social media, “It was our pleasure to support such a lovely project. It looks like the children had a wonderful time at Santa’s Grotto! Wishing the children and their families a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

We also received some amazing feedback from parents including this via social media, “Thank you for putting this on – Ivy-Rose loved her first-ever visit to Santa.”

Another parent stated, “Thank you so much! I can honestly say it was one of the nicest grottos we’ve been to. You made it so special, and my children loved it.”

Trust Facilities Manager, Lewis Coombes, added, “We are delighted to have put these events on for the amazing people in our community. We are proud of our facilities, which are in the heart of the communities we serve. We can cater for functions, meetings, classes, sports, conferences, and a whole host of events across Manadon and Central Park.

Across the year we have seen our facilities used for provisions to improve people’s health and mental wellbeing, job fayres, baby and toddler groups, yoga classes, social functions, football leagues and we are proud to have offered our facilities to support the NHS during the pandemic.

Special thanks go to the wonderful people at Wolferstans Solicitors. Their continued support is overwhelming, and we are grateful and proud to work in partnership to support and spread some cheer to the people of our communities.”
