Maisie FrickletonTHE expansion of provision for female footballers across our region continues with the launch of two new Premier League Girls Clubs.

The clubs will be based at Ivybridge Community College and Tor Bridge High, with both available to girls looking to develop their skills or just find an introduction to the sport.

Open to girls in school years 7-11 and completely free of charge, the programme at Ivybridge Community College started on January 10, running every Tuesday from 3.30pm – 4.30pm, and the Tor Bridge Centre is all up and running every Monday from 3pm – 4pm.

Ivybridge are very excited to have a Premier League programme at their school and this FREE session will provide more opportunities for young girls to play football. “It’s going to be great having these sessions at my school,” said current under-14 Argyle player Maisie Frickleton.

The programme at Tor Bridge will be run by current Plymouth Argyle Ladies first-team star Kayleigh Brown and she said: “It’s great to have so much buzz around girls football at the moment, with so many schools and teams putting in an effort to get more girls playing and enjoying the game.”

Both Ivybridge and Tor Bridge High clubs have had great support from the teachers and schools to promote and raise the profile for girls’ sports. These two schools have really pushed to make these clubs a success, inspiring the next generation of female footballers.
