Argyle Community Trust announces successful Samworth Brothers Bid

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful with a £24,000 bid from Samworth Brothers.

The grant from the Samworth Brothers Community Opportunity Fund will provide funding for children’s powerchairs, a sensory room, and disability sports equipment for young people at The Hub at Foulston Park.

Samworth Brothers are a food company who employ more than 12,500 people across 15 bakeries and manufacture more than a billion products each year. They have sites all over the UK, including Leicestershire, Cornwall, East Sussex, Manchester, and Bristol – as well as a site in Dublin in the Republic of Ireland.

Speaking on the generous donation, Argyle Community Trust’s Business and Impact Manager Dwain Morgan said: “This funding will support the Trust in purchasing inclusive sports equipment to support the delivery of sport and play at Foulston Park for children with disabilities.

“The grant will allow us to increase our output, in particular by being able to deliver sessions for children with mobility issues, and those who are neurodiverse.

“We are extremely grateful to Samworth Brothers and to the Community Opportunity Fund for helping us in our aim to continue to provide equal opportunities for children in our local community.”

A spokesperson for Samworth Brothers said: “We are proud to support Argyle Community Trust in the early stages of their growth at The Hub at Foulston Park.

“The impressive new facility is already making a difference in Devonport — providing inclusive, accessible spaces where young people of all abilities can participate in sport, feel supported, and build positive futures.

“Our funding will help equip the Hub to offer even more opportunities for those who need them most, and we’re excited to see the long-term impact it will have in the community.”

The Community Opportunity Fund supports deserving community and sports projects close to Samworth Brothers’ locations.

By supporting local projects, it allows Samworth Brothers to realise their vision of ‘doing GOOD things with GREAT food’ by being a long-term force for good and making a positive difference for the local community.

A massive thank you once again to Samworth Brothers for their continued support. You can find out more about them here.
