A DEBUT outing for the Plymouth Argyle Advanced Development Centre (ADC) this season and it was a fantastic day for everyone.
Swindon Town Football Club hosted the event, with teams from Argyle, Northampton Town and Swindon Town competing across a range of age groups.
The under 10s played a total of four games and finished the day undefeated, beating Swindon 2-1 and 2-0, the Northampton results were 5-0 and 5-1 in our favour. The football they played was remarkable, showing true quality at a young age.
It was a similar story for the under 12s, playing two games and beating Northampton 3-1 and Swindon 4-0. Watching this team was brilliant, with the young players showing great skill on the ball and impressive team work in creating the goals.
The under 14 girls started the day with a great attitude and passion for the game, winning their first match 3-1 against Northampton with some fluid passing combinations. Their second game showed true resilience from the girls, as they all worked their hardest and continued to try and play the Argyle way. Credit to Swindon, however, who played some brilliant football and took the three points.
The under 16s had a total of three games, Northampton was first and our girls in Green were outstanding in a 5-0 victory. Their final two games were against Swindon and, similar to the under 14s, the girls never gave up, testing their conception of teamwork and toughness. The games ended 3-0 and 2-0 losses, but the girls conducted themselves admirably, showing true sportsmanship and respect towards the opposition.
The Plymouth Argyle Girls ADC runs under the Premier League Girls Football Programme, which is delivered by around 90 clubs within England and its aim is to increase the opportunities for women and girls to develop skills and confidence, and progress within the pathway as a player, coach or official.
