THE Plymouth Argyle Education squad progressed to the second round of the Devon Midweek Cup with a powerful 5-2 victory over the HM Naval Base first-team.

It was a physical test for the boys, playing against a very fit and strong side, but our passing was excellent in the first period and the Pilgrims led at half-time from a Marley Richards strike.

The Naval Base responded well in the early stages of the second period and got back on level terms before an explosive 10-minute spell sealed the victory.

Travis Skerton restored the Argyle advantage on 75 minutes and then immediately added another to virtually confirm victory. Clayton Thomas then got involved with a bullet strike and he also completed his brace, with the Naval Base grabbing a late consolation.

Participants on the Football Education programme study for a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sports Coaching, while also competing in a league against the top teams from across Southern England.
