fbt sportsARGYLE Community Trust are extending the Open Trials for 2016 to Wadebridge School on Thursday, February 18.

Hosted by our UEFA qualified coaches, the trial will combine with an Open Day to introduce the Professional Football Scholarship programme commencing in September 2016, which is run in partnership between Wadebridge School and Plymouth Argyle Football Club.

The Open Day will run from 11am – midday and we then move forward to the open trial, which will be held outside if the weather permits, but please bring appropriate kit if we do need to move indoors.

We are looking for young players of school-leaving age with a passion to play football at a high level to take academic studies under the guidance of Plymouth Argyle, whilst at the same time honing their footballing talents.

The programme sees 16-18 years olds participate in a number of academic studies alongside a football scholarship run by Plymouth Argyle. The programme is designed to give people excellent academic qualifications that can take them into universities, overseas universities, employment and work places.

In addition to this, the programme provides talented and enthusiastic youngsters with the opportunity to train and play as a football scholar in tandem with their academic studies.

Previous scholars have progressed into the professional game, climbed the football pyramid and also gone overseas, whilst others have improved on their football ability and continue to play at a high standard in local football.

The programme does not prevent players from training or playing for their local teams. In fact, we encourage this and would like players to stay within local football. The programme would not affect your games or training schedule, as the course is an academic programme and runs during term-time.

If you would like to attend the open trials, please contact Ed Timmons on 07843 126833 or e-mail ed.timmons@pafc.co.uk
